Our Shea olein is used as a food ingredient, especially in chocolate and confectionery products. Shea olein is considered as a cocoa butter equivalent (CBE), cocoa butter improver (CBI), or cocoa butter replacer (CBR), depending on its composition and application. Shea olein can improve the shelf life and heat stability of chocolate and products that contain chocolate.
Shea olein has been granted the Generally Recognized As Safe (GRAS) status by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA), which means that it can be used in various food products without any safety concerns. The FDA letter allows for the use of shea olein in applications including baked foods, snacks, spreads, sauces, frozen dairy desserts and more.
