Our Contribution
At OTI, our mission to support and empower small-scale farmers and producers across Africa stems from a deep commitment to ensuring food security for the continent and preserving its rich heritage. Africa, endowed with immense knowledge and abundant natural resources, presents opportunities that demand proactive involvement. We are dedicated to taking a leading role in collaboration with local communities to transform strategic plans into tangible outcomes that enable a dignified standard of living.
Through initiatives such as storytelling, the promotion of fair trade for export-ready, made-in-Africa products, and crop diversification, we aim to drive sustainable progress. Our projects are designed to build the capacity of farmers, showcase the craftsmanship of artisanal producers, and foster the development of new business ventures. These efforts are focused on enhancing the living conditions within these communities and creating lasting, positive change.

In alignment with this trend, Winamzua, Landtours Ghana, and Organic Trade and Investments (OTI) - all women-led companies, have collaborated to offer traditional African black soap-making classes. OTI-led workshop delivers a culturally enriching experience, including an introduction to black soap-making, raw material selection, hands-on activities, and the exploration of traditional techniques, catering to various group sizes and preferences.

Shea Butter Market Expansion
Aligned with its core mission to empower small-scale farmers and producers across Africa, OTI has partnered with a shea butter production facility in Wa as part of its sustainability program. This collaboration focuses on expanding the production and distribution of handcrafted, unrefined shea butter to new markets. The facility currently works with 10 groups comprising a total of 455 women shea processors and integrates standard machinery with traditional methods to ensure high-quality production.
Additionally, the plant provides private and white-labeling services, catering to diverse client needs. With an existing monthly production capacity of 40 metric tons (MT), OTI is undertaking an ambitious initiative to scale up this capacity to 300 MT, driving growth and creating greater economic opportunities for the local community.
