Extracted from the native and premium shea nuts sourced from Tamale, Ghana, Organic Trade and InvestmentsShea Butter is an unrefined cold-pressed grade A product that is a one-stop choice for maintaining a healthy and flawless skin.

As a superior product with extraordinary deep hydration and healing properties for the skin, shea butter has been specially crafted to nourish one’s skin and protect it from sun damage. Shea Butter has a significant place in history: during ancient Egypt, it was a significant article used for protection against the merciless desert sun and win.

Packed with vital nutrients such as fatty acids (oleic acid, cinnamic acid, stearic acid and linoleic acid), antioxidants, vitamin A and vitamin E, shea butter delivers a rejuvenating punch to the skin. It is important to note that the amount of these nutrients is much higher in natural unrefined and traditionally handcrafted shea butter than in refined and chemically extracted shea butter. In addition to stimulating cell regeneration and moisturizing the skin, the antioxidants, vitamins and cinnamic acid in organic shea butter safeguards the skin against sun damage by reflecting and filtering the sun’s rays, thereby, promoting a youthful glow.

Long-term exposure to the sun leads to premature aging and the development of skin cancer. Shea butter possesses natural sunscreen properties: it has sun protection factor, thus, protects the skin from sunburn.

Unrefined cosmetic Shea Butter from Organic Trade & Investments (OTI) can be applied directly on the skin or included in simple Do-It-Yourself (DIY) blends for protection against the sun:

  • Place shea butter and cocoa butter in a double boiler (bain-marie) and let them melt over low to medium heat. Add zinc oxide powder and mix until an even texture is achieved. Add a few drops of any essential oil to give it a creamy texture and transfer the blend into a jar or container. Let it sit and cool before using it.

  • Add shea butter to coconut oil in a double boiler and melt; add beeswax. Turn off the heat and whisk the mixture for a uniform texture. Add two tablespoon of zinc powder and continue mixing till a smooth and even texture is achieved. Cool the blend to room temperature and store in a jar.

Unlike chemically infused sunscreen products, which contain unnatural ingredients and preservatives, organic shea butter is completely natural with no side effects. As a natural product, organic shea butter provides the desired adequate sun protection without exposing one’s skin to long-term effects and potentially harmful and irritation chemicals found in commercial sunscreen products.

Organic Shea Butter is available on e-store. Purchase this product for use to furnish your skin with a youthful glow and protection against the harshness of the sun.
